1767 Kukkus First Settler List #50
    Wilhelm Kloss
Age 45, ref, farmer from Holzhausen, Braunfels
    Wife: Anna Maria 30

Apparently the two children did not survive the transport to Kukkus.

Name Wilhelm Class (Klaus), from Koelschhausen, Braunfels appears in Solms-Braunfels Archives asking to be allowed to leave for Volga Russia in 1766.

First settler list does not show any children, but Adam Klaus born 1758 is on the 1798 Kukkus census. Possibly he is the same as Johann Klaus, which would mean that the first settler list is mistaken. Or perhaps the age is incorrect.

Koelschausen Ortsfamilienbuch shows Johann WIlhelm Closs born 27 Apr 1721 in Niederlemp and married Anna Elisabeth Schultz 12 May 1755 in Koelschhausen. May or may not be the same person.

Family/Spouse: Anna Maria Unknown. Anna was born in 1737. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Notes:

Shows on the Kuhlberg Lists as arriving in Russia in 1766, but does not show on the first settler list in 1767. Probably died.

  2. 3.  Johann Klaus Descendancy chart to this point (1.Wilhelm1) was born in 1760 in Germany.

    Other Events:

    • Reference Number: 9732
    • Arrival: 8 Aug 1766, Oranienbaum, Saint Petersburg, Russia

A possibility that this is the same as Adam Klaus who appears on the 1798 Kukkus census as being born 1758. Which would mean the first settler list is in error, as it does not show any children for Wilhelm Kloss(Klaus)
