Transcribed obituary found on the Internet taken from the October 4, 1999 edition of the Russell Record, Russell, Russell County, KS, USA: Katherine "Katie" Radke, 97, died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999, at Trinity Lutheran Manor, Merriam. She was born Aug. 2, 1902, in Rocky Ford, Colo., to Jacob and Maria Sophia (Schengel) Johannes. She married Arthur Radke, June 14, 1925, in Milberger. He died July 19, 1973. She was a homemaker and lived her married life on the family farm near Milberger, moving to Milberger in 1973. She then moved to Wichita in 1981, and for a short time resided at the Trinity Lutheran Manor in Merriam. She was a member of the United Emanuel Lutheran Church, Milberger, and the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Wichita. Survivors are: three sons, Harry Radke, Sun City West, Arizona; Tom Radke, Wichita, and Larry Radke, Shawnee; one daughter, Helen Nuss, Worland, Wyo., one half brother, Herman Karst, Great Bend; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two sons, Clayton Radke and Ralph Radke. Her funeral was at 10:30 a.m. today at United Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Milberger, with Fr. John Sweeney and Rev. Keith Kreitzer officiating. Burial was in the Milberger Cemetery. Pohlman's Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Memorials are to Parents of Murdered Children, Wichita, Kansas Chapter, in care of the mortuary.
