Johannes married Maria Elisabeth Kisselman. Maria (daughter of Johann Martin Kisselman and Anna Barbara Maser) was born in 1814. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    • Residence: 1850, Kukkus, Samara, Russia; HH32
    • Residence: 1857, Kukkus, Samara, Russia; HH39

    Notes:

We strongly suspect that Maria Elisabeth is the daughter of Johann Martin Kisselman and Anna Barbara Maser based on the following facts:

    1) The Johann Martin household is the only other Kisselman Family in Kukkus in 1834.

    2) The 1798 census shows only 4 other Kisselman households in the Volga German colonies. Mathias (Johann Martin's brother) in the nearby village of Anton. Mathias (Johann Martin's father in the nearby village of Balzer. Ludwig (No known relation) in the more distant village of Donhof. And Johannes (no known relation) in the more distant village of Grimm. It is certainly possible that Maria Elisabeth came from one of the households in Anton or Balzer. It is much less likely that she came from the more distant villages of Donhof or Grimm. I know of no Kukkus intermarriages from those last two villages.

    3) Johann Martin lives within 2 households from the Felsings, according to the 1834, 1850 and 1857 census records.

    4) Johann Martin was having children from 1796 to at least 1812 that we know of. It is possible then that he had a child in 1814.

Records from this time and place are simply incomplete. But based on what we know, it is most likely that Maria Elisabeth is the daughter of Johann Martin. Perhaps eventually we will find records to confirm or to dispute that, but for now I am listing Maria Elisabeth in the genealogy under Johann Martin Kisselman.

    • Residence: 1834, Kukkus, Samara, Russia; HH19
    • Residence: 1850, Kukkus, Samara, Russia; HH32

    Notes:

Johannes Felsing was the deceased husband of the deceased first wife of Johann Peter Debus according to the note on the entry for his son Johann Georg (who was living in the household of Johann Peter Debus) in the 1798 census. Johann Peter Debus had a son with his second wife in 1791, which implies that his first wife died before 1791. His first wife only married Johann Peter after her first husband Johannes had died, therefore Johannes had to die before 1791, most likely a few years before. As his son was born 1784, his death date had to be between 1784 and 1791.

Johann married Maria Charlotte Heizenraeder before 1811 in Kukkus, Samara, Russia. Maria (daughter of Johann Thomas Heizenraeder and Anna Margareta Becker) was born in 1790. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 5.  Maria Charlotte Heizenraeder was born in 1790 (daughter of Johann Thomas Heizenraeder and Anna Margareta Becker).

    • Residence: 1834, Kukkus, Samara, Russia; HH19
    • Residence: 1850, Kukkus, Samara, Russia; HH32

    Notes:

The 1783 birth year on the 1834 census and the surname chart appears to be in error. Her mother would have been 13 when she was born! The age on the 1798 census and the 1850 census is more like it. Perhaps the 1834 entyry was a transcription error and that was then picked up in the surname chart.

    Notes:

1798 Census notes that he is from Balzer. He is probably the son of Matthias Kisselmann who is the only Kisselmann family on the 1767 Balzer Census.

Johann married Anna Barbara Maser in 1793 in Kukkus, Samara, Russia. Anna (daughter of Gottfried Maser and Anna Eva Lutz) was born in 1775 in Kukkus, Samara, Russia; died before 1834. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Other Events:

    • Reference Number: 1407

    Notes:

We only know this person by name through a note in the 1798 census as the deceased father of Johann Georg. Based on the date of birth of Johann Georg, 1784, his father had to be born prior to 1767, thus he had to be listed on the 1767 census. There were two Felsing(er) familes on the 1767 census and each has one possible match to Johannes. Johann Georg Felsinger born 1761, appears on the 1798 Krasnoyar census as the deceased father of Konrad Felsinger born 1784. Johann Konrad Felsing born 1759, appears on the 1767 Paulskaya census, but appears nowhere in 1798.

Johannes Felsing was the deceased husband of the deceased first wife (name unknown) of Johann Peter Debus according to the note on the entry for his son Johann Georg (who was living in the household of Johann Peter Debus) in the 1798 census.

    • Residence: 1816, Kukkus, Samara, Russia; HH62

    Notes:

Balzer movement chart: Christoph Heizenrader and family moved to Kukkus in 1790.

As the first child was born in 1790 or 1791 that could imply that he married in Balzer, shortly before the family movement. Margareta Becker, dau of Weis Becker, b. 1770 would be the only Balzer possibility. As we do not have a 1775 Kukkus census, we do not know if there are any Kukkus possibilities. If he married a Kukkus girl, they would have to have been married very shortly after moving to Kukkus.

Johann married Anna Margareta Becker about 1789. Anna (daughter of David Becker and Anna Maria Steckenmesser) was born in 1770. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  4. 11.  Anna Margareta Becker was born in 1770 (daughter of David Becker and Anna Maria Steckenmesser).

    • Residence: 1798, Kukkus, Samara, Russia; HH30

    Notes:

Kukkus birth records include the following:
#31, 32. Twins Cath. Magd. [Catharina Magdalena] and Maria Charl. [Charlotta] Beker [Becker], born 13, baptized 20 November 1799.
Parents: Conrad Beker and Catharina Haase from the village Volskoye.
Godparents and witnesses: Joh. Horch, Magd. Beker, Thom. Heizenroeder, M. Charl. Fuchs.

HH 43 in 1798 - these are the parents
HH 42 contains Maria Charlotta Fuchs, a sponsor
HH 30 contains Thomas Hei..., another sponsor, married to Anna Margaretha Becker
HH 31 has a Becker wife named Magdalena that I suspect is another sponsor

These sponsors might suggest that Maria Charlotta (Becker) Fuchs, Anna Margaretha (Becker) Hei..., and Wilhelm Becker were siblings of Johann Conrad Becker. We know from the 1811 Kukkus census HH43 that Konrad and Wilhelm were brothers. Most likely Anna Margaetha was the child of Dvid on the 1767 1st settler list. It is possible that child died and David had another female in 1770 named Anna Margaretha.

HH 24 in Stahl am Tarlyk has a Johannes Horch, but I don't see how he'd be connected. I suspect it must be some other Horch that perhaps had a Becker wife.

Matthias Kisselman was born abt 1732. He married Maria Elisabeth Huber. By 1764 they had emigrated from Kieselbronn, Baden-Württemberg to Denmark (Schleswig-Holstein) and settled in the colony of Friedrichfeld. They immigrated to Russia in 1763, and arrived in the colony Balzer on 28 August 1765.
    Sources
    - Lang, Gerhard. German Colonists of Denmark on the Volga.

    From http://www.russia-colonists.eu/wandere.htm by Gerhard Lang
MIGRATION OF COLONISTS FROM GERMANY IN 1761 TO SCHLESWIG-HOLSTEIN AND LATER TO THE VOLGA IN 1763.
In 1761, the Danish king (Duke of Schleswig-Holstein) recruited people from souther Germany to settle in Schleswig-Holstein, to drain the bogs and swamps and make the land productive. Many Germans answered the appeal. Later the worsening economic situation and resentment by local domestic workmen caused some colonists to break their contract with the king and desert. As the number of desertions increased, provision was made for colonists to apply for permission to leave.
At the same time, czarina Katharina the Great issued the manifesto that encouraged people to come to Russia. Among the inducements was provision for advance payment of colonist costs for the journey. There was a resident recruiter of colonists in Kiel.
The colonist records in Schleswig show that many colonists left, some requesting permission to do so while others simply deserted without a trace. Transport lists of those leaving from Travemünde and Lübeck are not to be found.
The Kuhlberg lists do provide listings of colonists arriving in Russia. The Volga village census records are another source. By comparing family names and ther names and ages of family members, I come to the conclusion that there is a high probability that many of the families that left Schleswig-Holstein became colonists on the Volga.

Stumpp has Gottfried Maser from Ortzberg(Ortenberg)/Stockheim/Buedingen

From the AHSGR website: Maser: said by the Kukkus FSL to be from Loehnfeld(?), Kurpfalz. Eleanor Sissell (2010) has proven the place is Lengfeld, which in modern times is in Hessen. She has the Maser family, prior to their coming to Lengfeld in church records of Switzerland. The children born in Kurpfalz were spelled Maaser while the FSL spells it Maser.

Also from the AHSGR website:Loehnfeld(?), Kurpfalz: Alton Sissell (2005) using an LDS film and a visit to the village, proved this is Lengfeld. It is said by the Kukkus FSL to be home to Hoefner, Maser, Schaefer, and maybe Houg? families. Alton Sissell (2005) in the same fashion as the earlier sentence proved this to be the place which the Maser/Maaser family left to go to Russia.
