Mary was a daughter of Nicholas Camp and his first wife, Sarah (Unknown) Camp.[1][2] The exact date of her birth is unknown, although it was probably after 1621 when her parents were thought to have been married. Her father, Nicholas, first appeared in a listing of free planters at Milford, Connectict on 20 November 1639[3] and it is believed that he brought his wife Sarah and their children with him to New England.

      Marriage and Children
Mary Camp married John Baldwin sometime before 1640 at Milton, New Haven, Connecticut.[4][2] There were at least six children from this marriage, the first four all baptised on 26 March 1648 in Milford, one week after John Baldwin joined the Milford Church:[5]

      Nathaniel Cooper Baldwin; b. c.1648, Milford, Connecticut;[14] m. Bef. 1676 Sarah Phippen;[12][15] d. c.1717[12]
      Elizabeth Baldwin; bp. 19 Aug 1649;[12][16] m. c.1673 Nathaniel Porter;[12][17] d. 6 Feb 1684, Stratford, Fairfield, Connecticut[17]

      Death
The exact date of Mary (Camp) Baldwin's death is unknown, but must have occurred sometime after 1651 (when her youngest son was born) and 15 August 1652 when her husband married (second) Mary Bruen.[5]

      Research Notes
      Son Samuel's death:
Samuel's death on 19 Jan 1671/2 was entered a line too low after his brother Nathaniel's baptism record, and the person transcribing the record assumed in error that it was a record of Nathaniel's death. It actually applied to Samuel, who drowned near Fairfield, and whose widow subsequently sold their home lot in Milford.[20][12] Nathaniel survived his father and was mentioned in his father's will, and had children as early as 1676.[20]
