  • Notes
    • Johann Bernhard Becker born 25 Feb 1714 in Berghausen, Braunfels, Hesse, Germany and died there on 5 Feb 1760. On 26 Jun 1767 his widow Anna Maria and six of their children arrived in Kukkus, Samara, Russia as part of the original colonist group. In 1767 3 of the male children had established their own household, Johann Adam, David and Balzar. Jacob and Wilhlem were living with their mother and new husband, Christian Herbel. Jacob and Wilhelm would eventually form their own family group, leaving a total of 5 Becker households in Kukkus.
On the 1798 census in HH50 we have 3 children without parents. Apparently their father had recently died. They were born 1780, 1782 and 1784. Their father would be one of the 5 male children of Bernhard and Anna Maria. According to the 1798 census Johann Wilhelm and Baltasar were still living in 1798, thus neither can be the father. Johann Adam died before 1770, thus he cannot be the father. That leaves David and Johann Jakob. Although David had died after 1793, his six younger children in 1798 were in HH14 with his widow. Those children were born 1777, 1782, 1785, 1788, 1790 and 1793. It does not make sense that 3 children born 1780, 1782 and 1784 would be living in another household in 1798 as orphans. Those children are in a different family group. That leaves Johann Jakob as the only possibility for the father of these 3 children.
On the 1811 Census it shows Heinrich Andreas Becker (who is one of the 3 children in 1798 HH50) living in HH19 with Andreas Rosenthal who is married to Katharina Margaretha Becker b. 1777. Thus suggesting that Katherina is also a member of Johann Jakob's family. The two other children were females. The 1811 census only shows males.
