He and his wife sailed on the RMS Lake Ontario from Liverpool on 1 Apr 1902 and arrived at Saint John, NB, Canada on 12 Apr 1902. His destination was Sioux City, and his contact was indicated to be his "uncle," presumably a man named Gottfried Schmidt. The record suggests that he was also traveling with his parents (listed just below in the record), but while the others in the party were undoubtedly related they do not appear to have actually been his parents.
